Option B:  Hybrid" Meeting - Follow Wayland's Approach

The town of Wayland currently has a bill in the state legislature seeking authorization to hold "hybrid" Open Town Meetings - that is individuals could participate and vote either while physically in the meeting room or virtually connected electronically.

The bill (H.2053) (website) is currently wending its way through the legislature, and is being actively worked by Wayland.

One option for us is to put an article by citizen's petition on the warrant for the October 21, 2024 Special Town Meeting (STM) asking the Select Board and Town Manager to work with our representatives (Jim Arciero and John Cronin) to submit essentially the same bill but on behalf of Westford.

While the fate of Wayland's bill is uncertain, this approach would at least get something in the works, and be an indication of Westford's intention to make changes to the Open Town Meeting requirements.

The purpose of this site is to build a community of people in Westford who support the idea of enabling citizens to vote on warrant articles without having to attend town meeting.

If you support this idea, subscribe to keep in touch.

Maybe together we can get something to happen!

Thanks for subscribing!
